The national security Council of Japan has approved the delivery in the U.S. high-performance sensors Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. It will be the first case of arms exports after the accepted Tokyo decisions on the actual abolition of the ban on the sale of weapons, Kyodo reported.
Sensors with high characteristics will be installed on the anti-aircraft missile systems PAC-2, intended for export to Qatar. Currently, the Japanese company has been producing high-performance sensors for the system PAC-2 under the license of American Raytheon.
Earlier, the government of Japan decided that the export of American AAMS in Qatar will not lead to the escalation of armed conflicts in the region, and must apply to the national security Council of the country during July for final approval.
In addition, the Security Council of Japan has approved a joint with the UK, technology development for rockets of a class “air-air”.
In April this year the government actually waived the ban on arms exports, replacing it with three conditions under which Japanese companies are able to sell weapons abroad.
Such restrictions are: the supply of weapons to participating countries international conflicts; threat to the security of Japan; the use of other, not stipulated by the contract order, or unauthorized transfer to third countries. When these conditions are met, Japanese manufacturers have gained the ability to export weapons and active participation in international arms development.
