General Staff believes that the attackers were active military extremist of PKK or its Syrian counterpart


ANKARA, July 22. As a result of shootout on the border with Syria in the Turkish province of Sanliurfa two border guards have been killed. July 22 , as reported the General Staff, the collision occurred last night, when a group of militants tried to infiltrate into Turkey.


“A group of 10-15 people attempted to illegally cross the border from Syria. Border guards ordered them to stop. They disobeyed and opened fire”, – informed the military. One soldier was seriously wounded.


General Staff believes that the attackers were activists of extremist PKK or its Syrian counterpart – Democratic Unity Party.


On the border with Syria almost daily fixed attempted illegal border crossings. They are mostly related to the activities of smugglers delivering diesel fuel from Syria.
