Syrian opposition militants attacked a military airfield in the city of Hama

BEIRUT, July 21. Militants armed opposition attacked a military airfield in Hama (220 km north of Damascus), reports news service “Al-Watan”. Mortar bombardment subjected to residential areas of the city.


According to the received information, one civilian was killed and 11 people were injured. Syrian soldiers are fighting with the enemy troops at a checkpoint “Tell-Salben” west of the city.


The attack on Hama aims to distract government forces from operations in Morika, where the Syrian army launched a counteroffensive and pressing the formation of “Jabhat EN-Nusra” and “Islamic front”. The military commander used aviation for point strikes on enemy positions, which has a fierce resistance. Artillery used limited for fear of damage to the main gas pipeline, running from the area to the industrial centers.


The situation in Damascus


In the south of Damascus Mujahideen IS dislodged other opposition groups from the suburbs Hajar al-Aswad and established control over it. Their attempt to break into the nearby Palestinian refugee camp Yarmouk was reflected local self-defense forces. In aid of them came Syrian artillery. Nevertheless, experts anxiously note the emergence of a new threat on the southern outskirts of Damascus.
