BRUSSELS, Sept. 30. Meeting of 28 ambassadors of the European Union, in which they will review the implementation of the peace plan in Ukraine and the conditions of the armistice with a view to the eventual lifting of sanctions against Russia, opened in the Belgian capital, said a spokeswoman for EU foreign service Kosyanchich Maya.

“The meeting of the Committee of Permanent Representatives to the EU just opened at 10:00 (12:00 MSK)”, – she said. Earlier Kosyanchich informed that “after the evaluation of the implementation of the ceasefire agreement and the peace plan (in Ukraine) of the European Commission and the EU’s foreign service will be requested to prepare a proposal for amendments to the sanctions (against Russia).” Thus, the very discussion about the modification of the sanctions regime will begin in October. Moreover, for any decisions regarding the mitigation of the sanctions regime will require the unanimous support of all EU countries. “All decisions concerning restrictive measures adopted on the basis of consensus among all 28 EU countries”, – explained in the foreign service. After the announcement of the coming into force from September 12 to new sanctions against Russian head of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy said the EU may wholly or partly withdraw them in accordance with the development of the situation in the east of Ukraine.
