The EU has allocated 112 million euros to help children affected by the conflict in Syria

More than six and a half million children have been affected by the civil war


BRUSSELS, September 25. The EU has allocated 112 million euros to help children affected by the conflict in Syria. This is stated in the report released on September 24 in Brussels, the European Commission statement.


“More than six and a half million children have been affected by this brutal civil war, and a half million of them are now living as refugees outside the country”, – quotes the EC European Commissioner for International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response Kristalina Georgieva.


The statement said the EC, the allocated funds will be used for the protection and education of children in Syria and neighboring countries. In addition, they will support the work of national authorities to strengthen their own education systems.


EC explains that money is allocated from the total package of financial aid to Syria and neighboring countries in the amount of 215 million euros. Some of them – 50 million euros – will come in the form of humanitarian aid, and another 165 million will be used to support long-term development in the country.
