WASHINGTON, September 23. The United States will provide humanitarian aid to the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip in the amount of $ 71 million.

This is stated in the statement of Secretary of State John Kerry, on Monday.

It is noted that at the moment more than 58 000 people are  hiding in shelters provided by the United Nations.

The report emphasizes that the allocated amount of $ 59 million should go to the UN mission, aimed at assistance to the Palestinians, and $ 12 million are intended, in particular, for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

These funds will be used to provide the Palestinians with water, tents, food and medicine.

“The United States remains committed to assisting the Palestinian people,” – said in a statement the United States Secretary of State.

In late July, John Kerry announced the allocation of residents of the Gaza Strip, $ 47 million, so the total amount that the United States has spent on the provision of humanitarian assistance to the Palestinians, will be $ 118 million.
