MOSCOW, October 30. Grand Mufti of Syria, Ahmad Badr al-Din Hassoun said that his country is saddled with a religious war. He stated this at a press conference in Moscow.

“I represent a regime that represents the people,” – said the mufti.

According to the priest, now in the world are trying to start a war in the manner of the Crusades. “The winner is the saints, but the saints can not be those who kill other people, – he said. – Trying to create a religious state. But it is more dangerous than to declare the World War.”

“They will fail, the person can not be compelled by force – said the Grand Mufti. – When an Islamic, Christian or Jewish state, I ask which of the prophets spoke of the need for this?”

Regarding the situation in Ukraine, Ahmad Badr al-Din Hassoun remarked that in his opinion, the western media are lying about what is happening there. “The Ukrainian people do not want to be with the EU, he wants to be with Russia. “In Europe, the EU is, but as for the Chechens, Crimean people, they want to separate them from Russia, which is contrary to history,” – he added.
