At the donor conference on Gaza was decided to allocate $ 5.4 billion to the Palestinians


CAIRO, Oct. 28. International aid which had been promised by donor countries at a conference in Cairo, has not yet entered the ruined after Israeli Gaza operation.


This statement was made by the Prime Minister of a coalition government of the Palestinian Rami Hamdallah.


“International assistance has not entered the enclave – said Hamdallah. – It is necessary to resolve the issue of delivery of goods to Gaza in the near future.”


October 12 in Cairo, on the initiative of Norway and Egypt hosted an international donor conference on Gaza, which was attended by representatives of 50 countries and 20 NGOs. Forum participants have committed to the needs of the Palestinians $ 5.4 billion, half of which was to go directly to the restoration sector, about $ 800 million – for emergency assistance to its residents. At the same time, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said that the reconstruction of the destroyed infrastructure of Gaza must be no less than $ 4 billion.


Meanwhile, as stated earlier, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, who visited the sector at the end of the conference, the first shipment of construction materials into Gaza has arrived October 14th.
