Ahmet Davutoglu also called for the establishment of no-fly zone in the region
ANKARA, October 16. Head of the government of Turkey Ahmet Davutoglu considers a northern Syria security zones to protect the local population. He said this on the air Qatari television channel “Al Jazeera”.
“The zones should be established between the cities of Aleppo, Idlib and the Turkish border to include them in the border towns of Ain El-Arab (Koban) Dzharablus and others, depending on the density of population in these areas. And the decision on the establishment of security zones must take the UN” – said the prime minister.
Davutoglu separately noted that Ankara says “not about the buffer zones, namely, the security zones.” “We want people to come back and live in safety. Moreover, we want to create a no-fly zone, as it is a condition of safe stay of people here,” – he said. The prime minister said that “the term” buffer zone “is a military sense, as the transition zone between the two countries,” Turkey is “no species on the territory of a friendly Syria.”
Ankara is actively promoting the establishment of safe areas in the north of ATS in its neighborhood and even puts it as a condition for increasing its participation in the military operations of the international coalition against militants Islamic state. Meanwhile, on Wednesday, Syrian Foreign Minister said that “categorically rejects the creation of buffer zones, wherever they are located and whatever the grounds for it.”
