BRUSSELS, Aug. 27. More than 2000 Citizens of the European Union have been recruited by extremists to participate in the fighting in Syria and Iraq. This was announced at a press conference in Brussels, the European Commission spokesman Michele Serkone.
“More than two thousand people from EU countries to fight on the side of extremists in Syria and Iraq. Earlier this year, the European Commissioner for Home Affairs Cecilia Malmström, the EU said that in 2015 it is planned to create a European Knowledge Centre for the fight against extremism. “If this idea is accepted by EU governments, the European Commission has allocated 20 million euros for the establishment of the center,” – she said.
