GENEVA, August 19. Ukraine asked the Swiss authorities to give frozen assets of Yanukovych’s entourage members. This information was circulated earlier by the local media, this information was confirmed by Folco Galli, a spokesman for the federal Department of Justice, part of the Federal Department (Ministry) of Justice and Police of Switzerland.
“I can confirm that the federal Department of Justice has received during the summer three Ukrainian request for mutual assistance in regard to the environment, Viktor Yanukovych, but not of the former president,” – said Galli.
“At the moment, the federal Department of Justice is considering these requests for compliance with formal requirements,” – said Galli, refusing to give any details of the process.
In February, the Federal Council (government) Switzerland decided to freeze the accounts of two dozen citizens of Ukraine in the banks of the Confederacy, including Viktor Yanukovych and his son Alexander, Sergei Arbuzov, Mykola Azarov, and several other members of the former government.
According to the Federal Prosecutor’s Office in Switzerland, the size of the frozen funds of about 170 million francs ($ 193.7 million).
