United Nations, August 28. The UN Security Council will hold at 14.00 New York time (22.00 MSK) emergency meeting in connection with the reports of Russian troops on the territory of Ukraine.

This was stated by the presiding officer in the Security Council in August, the UK Permanent Representative to the UN Mark Lyall Grant.

“The meeting is scheduled for 14.00. We look forward to hearing from Russia explanations as to why its soldiers are on the territory of Ukraine”, – he said. The diplomat noted that he had no doubt that the reports of border crossing true. “It is clear that Russian troops are there,” – said Grant.

Earlier Thursday, Prime Minister Yatsenyuk urged Western countries to urgently convene a meeting of the Security Council.

“I consider it essential that our Western partners immediately convened an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council,” – said Yatsenyuk during a meeting with the leadership of the Ukrainian World Congress.

Premier believes that this issue should be raised in the framework of the OSCE and the EU Council at the level of Foreign Ministers.
