“We must support the Iraqi forces and the moderate opposition in Syria,” – said the Secretary of State

NEW YORK, August 30. At the upcoming NATO summit in Wales UK (September 4-5), Washington will try to enlist the support of European allies for joint assistance to Iraq and the moderate opposition in Syria in the fight against extremist group “Islamic State” (IG) operating in these countries. This was stated by Secretary of State John Kerry in an article published Friday in the newspaper The New York Times.

“We must support the Iraqi forces and the moderate opposition in Syria, which faces ISIL (” Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant “- the name of the IG until June 30, 2014) on the battlefield,” – said Kerry.

Speaking of the NATO summit, he stressed: “The goal is to get the broadest possible support.” After the summit in Wales, John Kerry, in his own words, will travel to the Middle East to get even “more support for the coalition among the countries facing the most immediate danger.” In his opinion, to counter this group “need a global coalition that would use political, humanitarian, economic, law enforcement and intelligence tools to support the armed forces.”

In addition, the head of the American Foreign Ministry says in his article in The New York Times, that “Islamic state” “is a threat to a wide range of countries, including the United States.”

So far, American officials have stated they do not have reliable data on possible threat within its territory by militants of the “Islamic state.” “At the moment, the United States Department of Homeland Security and the FBI did not have specific and reliable data about the threat of American territory by the IG,” – said on Friday the Minister of National Security Jay Johnson.

Earlier, the “Islamic state” has threatened to organize an attack on Americans “anywhere” on your own, if the United States did not stop to put air strikes on their positions. “We will drown you in blood,” – quoted media laconic message extremists.

President Barack Obama has authorized air strikes on militant positions IG in Iraq on August 8, as noted then, to protect American personnel and assistance to Iraqi and Kurdish troops. Since then, the aircraft struck the United States more than 100 air strikes.

Until recently, the IG militants held hostage several American citizens. For the liberation of 26-year-old American, who arrived in Syria for humanitarian aid, the extremists demanded 6.6 million dollars ransom. In addition to it, a prisoner of the terrorists is a correspondent for Time magazine Sotloff Stephen, who went missing in August 2013 in Libya. August 19 IG issued a video that captures the execution of another American journalist James Foley. The video also featured Sotloff. “Life of this American citizen, Obama, depends on your next decision,” – said in the video “Islamic state.”
