Media: Swedish government approves accession to NATO

Agreement will allow to enter alliance reaction forces on the territory of the Kingdom

STOCKHOLM, August 27. The Government of Sweden intends to approve accession to the treaty, which gives the right to enter their NATO response force on the territory of the kingdom. On August 27 this newspaper Svenska Dagbladet.

“We have come quite far in the negotiations. Government’s decision can be taken in (forthcoming) Thursday,” – said the publication Defense Minister Karin Enstrёm.

In the autumn of 2013 the Ministry of Defence of Sweden has requested permission to cabinet ministers start talks with NATO on the issue. According to the newspaper’s sources, discussions are completed, and now Stockholm ready to sign the agreement.

The treaty provides that host country will provide security response forces on land, sea or air at the time of their transfer to the place of deployment.

Agreement “based on the fact that NATO is acting at the invitation of the Swedish side,” the minister stressed.
