To provide assistance to Iran asked officials of the regional government of Iraqi Kurdistan
TEHRAN, Aug. 26. Iran assisted the Iraqi Kurds in the operation against the terrorists from the group “Islamic State” (IG). As the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli Iran, the official representatives of the regional government of Iraqi Kurdistan asked Iran to provide assistance and support, including counseling and training Kurdish militias.
The Iranian minister, quoted by Iranian television channel Press TV, said that his country adheres to the strategy of “the need to displace the terrorists out of the Iraqi provinces, which they were able to capture.”
Rahmani Fazli also pointed out that “in some cases, Tehran has expressed fears that the bandits could grab the holy Muslim city of Iraq.”
According to the Interior Minister, Hassan Rouhani president described such a development as “a kind of” red line “beyond which removes any restrictions on the conduct of operations by Iran to protect the Muslim holy sites.”
According to official representatives, the Kurdish paramilitary units (Peshmerga) in the course of the August 10 operation dislodged terrorists from the cities of El Guveyr and Makhmour in the northern Iraqi province of Nineveh. They also managed to clean up the extremists from the area near the dam of the reservoir in Mosul.
