Norwegian Foreign Ministry: a meeting of countries which want to support the economy of the Gaza Strip will be held in Cairo

According to the Norwegian Foreign Ministry, the meeting will be held immediately after the agreement is reached on the complete ceasefire

OSLO, August 18th. The Government of Norway and Egypt with the support of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas agreed to hold in Cairo the Conference to support the economy of the Gaza Strip. According to the Norwegian Foreign Ministry on its website, the meeting will be held immediately after the agreement is reached on the complete cease-fire in Gaza.

“The funds raised at the conference, will be transferred to the Palestinian Authority,” – said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway Børge Brende.

Initially, the donor conference was planned to be held in early September in Norway, which is part of the International Coordinating Council of aid to Palestine.

In addition, in Cairo held indirect talks in which Palestinian and Israeli delegations reiterated try to agree on a long-term cease-fire in the Gaza Strip. The term of the current 5-day truce expires on the night of Monday to Tuesday.
