BERLIN, August 21. Germany will not send troops to the Ukraine to resolve the crisis in the country. This was announced on Thursday, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, speaking at an event in the German city of Grimm (State of Saxony), where the elections to the local parliament will be conducted August 31.


“We will not send soldiers to resolve the conflict in Ukraine,” – said the head of the Cabinet of Ministers of Germany. She stressed that the German government intends to “give diplomacy a chance.”


Merkel, who is the chairman of the ruling party, the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), also said that Germany would not send troops to Iraq to participate in hostilities. “We do not want and will not send troops there,” – she said. At the same time, she said, Berlin would consider sending military trainers to Iraq.


On the last Sunday in Berlin hosted a quadripartite meeting of the foreign ministers of Germany, Russia, France and Ukraine, to discuss ways to resolve the conflict in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
